Ordog

Tornio is a city in Finland, located at the border of Sweden (it’s like a sister-city of Sweden’s Haparanda), and at the very Northern shores of the Gulf of Bothnia. Tornio is also the location where Ordog hail from. The latter is a band that was formed at half of last decade, being named after the Hungarian word for ‘devil’. These Finnish doomsters did record and release a couple of demonstrational stuff, and five full lengths (without the compilation that covers the first demos).

Quercus

To celebrate their fifteenth year of existence, Quercus present us their third full length album, two years after Sfumato. This Czech act, with members from Umbrtka (vocalist Ondřej ‘Lord Morbivod’ Klášterka and multi-instrumentalist Lukáš Kudrna, with newly recruited keyboardist Marek ‘Markko’ Pišl), recorded this lengthy five-tracker over a period of almost one year.

Psicorragia

Peruvian act Psicorragia were formed in 1994 at a time when the South American (Death) Metal scene was enormously influential, inspirational, and interesting. After some changes in the line-up and a search for a direction to go, the band released a first demo, Otoño, in 1998. In 2001, the band was able to record a first full length album, La Pasión de lo Mortal, which was released via American Line Productions. An EP did follow in 2005 but then things went silent for quite a while.

Ephemeral Ocean

Moscow-based Ephemeral Ocean are quite a young band, formed in 2013. In April 2014 the band self-released a demonstrational MCD / EP, Honour In The Mask, and after some line-up changes, they did enter the studio again to record their debut full length. The result, by the way, was mixed and mastered at the famous Priority Recording Studio by nobody else but Esoteric’s Greg Chandler (!).

Halter

Russia’s Halter can be considered some kind of continuation from defunct Neophron, though stylistically there are quite some differences in between both bands. Halter formed in 2009, and in 2013 there was a first full length, Omnipresence Of The Rat Race, which actually was their debut for MFL.

Unmercenaries

Unmercenaries are a collaborative of two members from Who Dies In Siberian Slush (amongst others, but I do refer to this one specifically, for I recently wrote a review for their split with My Shameful; see update December 24th 2015), and a member from My Shameful (amongst others, but I do refer to this one specifically, for I recently wrote a review for their split with Who Dies In Siberian Slush; see update December 24th 2015).

My Shameful

It’s no secret. Everybody knows that Finland houses an impressive list of great Doom-acts, whether it be within the Traditional / Classic Doom current, the Epic Doom, Doom-Death, Funeral Doom, or the Doom-Doomer-Doomiest Doom one. And one of the best known and, to some, most impressive projects out there is this one, My Shameful.
