Maximum Overload is the sixth studio album for Drragonforce, and is released on Ear Music, a new label that is part of the Edel Music Group.

What they bring us on this album, is basically the same what they have always done, very fast speed metal, but also very melodically.  How their vocalist Matt Hudson manages to sing at this fast a pace is a mystery to me.  I guess a normal person would end up with a knot in his tongue…

Yet it is this constant overkill with speed that after a while starts to get boring, at least it does with me.  Although one by one most of the songs sound very catchy, it overwhelms you once you’ve had a few songs. Despite that, this is a good album, nice songs, well played, so I guess I’ll have to make some kind of compilation, where I mix in a few Dragonforce songs with other bands. Oh, and I have to warn you.  For the first time in their career they’ve put a cover on one of their albums, a cover from Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring Of Fire’.  Despite not being a real Johnny Cash  fan, I prefer the original version though, but it must be said it was a brave effort to try to cover this.
