| THE ID: “The Inner Sounds Of The ID” (World In Sound) |
|
The ID, who were a bunch of friends from the late 60’s from other bands came together to rehearse and one of these results is another one of those half forgotten mid-level rock/psych classics, it’s a west coast mix of blues, garage, folk, surf, beat and psych rolled up into one...there's even a few raga elements thrown in! There's 20 tracks on the near 63 minute album, 10 of which are bonus tracks at the end. Most of the songs are under three minutes long. The longest track is “The inner sound of the id” with it’s over 10 minutes, which is is worth the price of admission alone! This song should appease fans of Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead as well as Ravi Shankar for it's long psychotic sitar during the entire song. That's the best stuff on the album in my opinion, and seems to be very much improvisation based. This is a true ‘headphones’-track. ”Wild times” is this albums best known track and it has every right to be...it's some of the best west flavoured nuggets flower pop. Sometimes they do kick ass, if not with the tempo then at least with wilder shaking rhythms.à la The Troggs, Yardbirds and Bo Diddley. The ID has some stunning moments, magical and time tripping moments, mixed with some fine song material. Peter. |
