| ON THE LAST DAY: “The Meaning Of Static” (Victory – Hard Life Promotion) |
|
Welcome Aiden’s god-child straight from the muddy-banks of Seatle, Wil even sings on the opening track of their self-released EP, how much more evidence do you need?!! Just look at the group-shot on the back of the album if you have any more doubts. This album is rather melodic and strangely lacks some of the traditional post-hardcore aggression we associate with this genre. This would be about the only distinction between on the last day and so many others trying to fill this space. What I found very likeable was Vocalist GeoffreyWalker’s voice which has an uncanny Nathan Gray (Boysetsfire)… Davey Havok (AFI)’ ish sound. This album was produced by Steve Carter, who previously worked with Himsa, Aiden and Cradle of Filth. Sadly after listening to this album quite a few times I still could not find a song(s) that really stood out for me to give meaning to the static. What an apt name for their debut album…. as this album is rather…. static….but the beauty is the hidden potential that clearly shines through like a drop of water sparkling in the rising sun…. For fans of: AFI, Aiden, Atreyu and Rise Against Try these tracks for anti-static: “Meaning in the Static”, “Missing Frames (Changeover)”, “At The Breaking Of The World” , “Twelve CC’”. 82/100 Karin. |
