| THE PSYCHEDELIC AVENGERS: “And The Decterian Blood Empire” (Fünfundvierzig) |
|
Bet you've never heard of Angry Baboon God, Bibi Passion, Cactus Cooper, Freaknob, Dryland,Nation of Clang, Robustus, Solvi Silver’s Warchestra feat. Sgt. Renegade, right? But I guess that the names of Hypnos 69 (with the jazzy Nektarlight“A spy named Vela Brown”), Stefan Koglek (ColourHaze), Liquid Sound Company, Sula Bassana, Marble Sheep should definitely tell you something, at least partly. What all those names have in common? The Psychedelic Avengers is a whole armada of famous and unfamous psych/trance/ambient/ prog/space/electro/wave/ cyber/ experimental bands that Timo Lommatzsch and Sven Missullis out of Hannover could enlist for their classical space opera. “And the decterian blood empire” is their second trip and if you see the impressive list of musicians they could win over, then you automatically expect quite something. Trying to find words to describe the work of the bizarre project The Psychedelic Avengers is hard enough. Trying to get through the two discs (155 min in total?) in one listen is even harder. These albums are often filled with occasional gems surrounded by a lot of extremely offbeat and difficult explorations and experiments that do not always gel properly. I can see how many might be confused about the work of most of the bands and/or put off by all of the sounds and happenings throughout the disc. But those who have enough patience to sit through two full spins shall be rewarded with a truly unique galactic experience that'll surely stand out from everything else they have heard in the past few months, years, centuries, aeons,….
