CD REVIEW Among The Missing

Band : Among The Missing
Album Title : Cease To Exist
Label : Withered Hand
Distributor :
Release Date : 2008
Release : CD

On the first part of the album Among The Missing crunches along with sharp distortion, excellent chop fills, buzzsaw sonic hits and Iron Monkey vocals. The vocalist constantly roars, the guitars crunch and demolish, and the hectic rhythm-section crack open some heads. From the get-go, the sludgy crustcore/grind blasts flow with intensity and anger, lashing out at us with a wicked sneer. The first couple of songs are heavily influenced by bands like Iron Monkey, GBH, Broken Bones, Battalion Of Saints and Concrete Sox.. Cease To Exists’ side A rarely slows the pace down, shoving crushing riffs and growls into our face as much as they can.

Side B opens with “Fishbury park” and is a bludgeoning Fistula/Kylesa monster. “Trembling before”’s style sounds like a more melodic version of Eyehategod. On the last track Among The Missing are changing more into a kraut rock direction that suddenly surprises with psych blues-drenched riffs, and ends into a drone-like ending, without losing its sick vibe.

Sadly Among the Missing are no longer with us.
