Band : Filter Album Title : Anthems For The Damned Label : Pulse Recordings - Suburban Distributor : Bertus Release Date : 15/09/2008 Release : CD After six years of silence and their album “The Amalgamut” Filter is back. Front man Richard Patrick went into rehabilitation and the band planned a while off. A while has become six years and finally only Patrick returned as only member of the old band. The new album is no different from the previous ones. Current single “Soldiers of Misfortune” is very representative for whole the album. A steady guitar riff, augmented by an acoustic track in the background, drives the main melody, with a slight edge to it in the chorus. It’s a great track and a nice opener to the album. Other songs proves their steady hard rock such as “What’s Next” and “The Wake". The album makes some extra emphasis on atmosphere and melodies and the acoustic guitar is used to a greater effect, especially in the middle of the album. “Anthems For The Damned” is not a special new Filter album but hardcore fans will love this album. In the end it’s a very enjoyable new record and hopefully we don’t have to wait another six years for a follow up album. 75/100 Guido Claes. |
