Band : My Shameful Album Title : Descend Label : Firebox Distributor : Hardlife Promotion Release Date : 14/04/2008 Review : CD Finnish quartet My Shameful are a standard funeral doom outfit that really do dwell in that 'standard' feel and sound. A country of thousands of lakes and islands has given us some heavyweights in doom Reverend Bizarre, Fall of The Idols, Swallow The Sun not to mention the depressed of the depressed outfits such as Skepticism, Tergothon and Unholy. It seems that My Shameful seems to be following in those bands' footsteps. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with My Shameful's previous releases and although I cannot make a direct comparison to past work and I can say by listening to Descend that My Shameful sound sincere enough and that they seem to be the sort of band that takes its musical output seriously. But it is gen eric , sometimes monotonous music that really leaves the listener bored and in no way interested as the album meets mid-point. With eight songs here, I found myself checking the track list often to see if a song was repeating. They all sound the same after a while. Die-hard with the emphasis on die- fans of the funeral doom metal style probably will appreciate Descend.. 69/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
