“Lost Highway” is the tenth studio album from stadium rockers Bon Jovi.
The country rock album originally came out in July 2007 and it was reviewed by my collegue Guido Claes on August 13th 2007 for ConcreteWeb.
Since it’s initial release, the album already sold almost 4 million copies worldwide.
With the recent European tour Bon Jovi did, “Lost Highway” was re-released as a Tour Edition with a live bonus disc.
The bonus disc contains 14 tracks (about 60 minutes playing time), featuring live performances of all the tracks from “Lost Highway”, as well as a live performance of the hit singles “It’s My Life” and “Wanted Dead Or Alive”. The booklet doesn’t mention where the live CD was recorded, but I guess it was in the studio with only few people as spectators. So, more an intimate live performance instead of the gigantic stadium show Bon Jovi normally play. The bonus disc sure has an added value and an exclusive Bon Jovi sticker completes the Tour Edition.
The question with these re-releases always is why the record companies don’t include the extras with the initial release. That way, the true fan would not be fooled. I guess it’s all just a strategy to make more money on the back of the righteous CD buyers…
