The German band Davidian replaced their former vocalist Chris Pendergast by an American singer David Hopkins. His vocal addition could have used more power . And their sound is also changed a little bit towards old school trash with a very modern twist and it reflects quite some aggression. You can’t deny that this band sounds very much like Machine Head and even Exodus. Originality you will not find at “Hear Their Cries” but that is not necessarily a problem. Some songs are really promising such as “Judas Cross” and especially “Dark Lights”. Davidian plays ferociously without any compromise bursting away but the rest of the tracks are without draught and sometimes hold too much similarities. Old school thrash with a modern sound and quite some ferocity that’s what Davidian brings at their second album “Hear Their Cries”. And although it is not a bad album, the lack of just a small touch of originality makes the danger of repetition lies in wait. Just listen to this album more than once to give it a go.
