Band: Krypt Title: Preludes In Death Label: Agonia Records Distribution: Suburban - Bertus Release date: 2008 Review: CD It may not be the absolute truth, yet when it comes to grim and cold Black Metal, Norway has always been one of the leading countries. Krypt is such a Norwegian band, consisting of Nag ( Isvind, Gehenna, Tsjuder) and Desecrator ( Tsjuder, Furze, Endezzma). Last year, Agonia Records from Poland did release I Am God, and this anti-human and misanthropic successor goes on in the vein of that mini-album, meaning: grim underground-oriented old style Black Metal. The sound is freezing and rough, and this perfectly fits to the mid to up-tempo tracks (with a few very slow moments). Old Immortal and Darkthrone, even Gorgoroth, early Gehenna, Satyricon, Taake and Enslaved, Krypt is all this, and Krypt is even more. A song as Misfits, for example, combines this Nordic superiority with the ultra-greatness of early Bathory (listen to those opening riffs and you know what I mean), and the whole album exhales such a glorious and magnificent spirit, such an ultimate über-strength from the old school. Preludes In Death may not be the most renewing album, yet these fifty minutes do certainly please me! 91/100 Ivan Tibos. |
