Band: Unearth There used to be a brutal old school-oriented Death Metal band from Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the nineties (this band split up without recording any decent, official studio material), but the Unearth mentioned here, is the Boston, Massachusetts-based one. Throughout their existence (ten years in mean time), this band gained an enormous popularity + huge fan base and indeed, their Thrash Metal-influenced (or is it ‘-inspired’?) Metalcore is catchy, uncomplicated and even pretty predictable. Not too difficult, that’s clear, and meant for a big audience …???... The melodic songs are more Hardcore-oriented than before (especially vocally this is the case) and still do combine instrumental virtuosity with rhythmic power. The performance sounds pretty modern and is very technical. The March isn’t Unearth’s heaviest recording to date, on the contrary, but it will open the gates to an even bigger audience than before. Nothing else to add… 81/100 Ivan Tibos. |
