Band : Danko Jones Album Title : Never Too Loud Label : Bad Taste Records Distributor : Suburban - Bertus Release Date : 14/03/2008 Review : CD Lizzy meets AC/DC meets T-Rex meets Kiss music with simple lyrical content and a strong charismatic presence combine to make Danky Jones a dynamic musical force. There's a lot more variety from this point on than you might have come to expect from a Danko Jones album. Although all of the tracks have the glam rock sound you've come to expect from the band, there's an openness here, both lyrically and vocally, that didn't really come through on earlier releases Interestingly, one of the CD's best tracks, “ Forest for the trees” is a Masters Of Reality- like desert tune that packs an emotional wallop and is given an even greater boost due to the guest appearances of John Garcia and Pete Stahl on vocals. While they never really slow down, they never really seem to make speed either. That's intentional, I'm certain, because the band is very consistent. They move at their own pace and they know exactly what that pace should be. I didn't dislike Danko Jones but they didn't blow me away either. Still, their fourth CD is enjoyable enough that it'll find its way back into my CD player every now and then. Any fan of Danko Jones should be pleased by this newest CD from this pure rock group that has matured and will be around for some time to come. 80/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
