Band : Grave Robber Album title : Be Afraid Label : Retroactive Records Distributor : Artist Worxx Release Date : 11/07/2008 Release : CD This in Americans Indiana based Grave Robber, likes to dress up with brown costumes spattered with red paint while wearing a zombie-like skull mask. Musically this band plays punk and hard rock with occasional gothic and melodic metal moments thrown in. It’s a little bit like The Misfits, GWAR and Rob Zombie. “Be Afraid” is the band’s retroactive debut with up-tempo song writing of an infectious variety. Too many songs border on the simplistic or end all too briefly in coming in at around the two minute mark or less. It would have been interesting if the band had pursued a more metal based musical direction. Instrumental song “The Exorcist” is a nice song driven by eerie keyboards and a church organ that would definitely earn his place on a horror movie soundtrack. All by all “Be Afraid” is a very good punk metal album with extremely catchy songs. But with the lack of straightforward metal and hard rock you could get disappointed. Points: 70/100 Guido Claes. |
