Band : Lacrimas Profundere Album title : Songs For The Last View Label : Napalm Records Distributor : Hard Life Promotion Release Date : 27/06/2008 Release : CD The brothers Oliver Nikolas and Christopher Schmid were the backbone of Lacrimas Profundere since their very beginning in 1993. But after recording their previous album “Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts” vocalist Christopher has left the band and his brother Oliver Nikolas stands on his own to go further one with this very successful German gothic rock band. “Songs For The Last View” is the eighth studio album and the debut of new vocalist Rob Vitacca. By first notice you can't hear that Christopher has left the band because the sound of this eminent band is still the same and it is nearly scary to hear how Vitacca's voice sounds the same as Christopher's. The slight difference is its timbre that's a little bit lower just like Peter Steele of Type O'Negative. And the twelve new songs are a whirling current of powerful, dark and graceful songs full of melancholy. Those gothic rock songs are intermittent with any ballads of a black romantic kind. Especially the song “And God's Ocean” is breath taken. On “A Dead Man” the band creates a superb moment of compelling emotion with piano and strings. But besides these melancholy moments Lacrimas Profundere can also produce a heavy sound in “Lullaby For A Weeping Girl” and in the magnificent “While”. This is a top album in the gothic genre. And if you are lucky and you can buy the limited digital pack edition you will get four extra tracks and a DVD with video material and live stuff. 90/100 Guido Claes. |
