Band: Resurrection I don’t know how many Metal bands are, or were, called ‘resurrection’, yet I do seem to remember such monikers in Poland, Hungary, Sweden, France, and even China! And also in the United States I do know at least three bands with this name, among which a Black Metal formation from L.A. and a defunct Death Metal bands from New Jersey. This Resurrection hails from Tampa, Florida, a place that used to be the ultimate definition for American Death Metal about twenty years ago, and indeed, this band was one of those formations that was kind of born during these wonderful years. 1990, to be precisely. In 1996, the members unfortunately decided to split after only one official full length release. Two and a half year, almost three years ago however, Resurrection returned, and after being signed to Massacre Records, the band releases the second full length, called Mistaken For Dead, having duration of almost forty minutes. Mistaken For Dead more or less goes on in the vein of Embalmed Existence, the 1993-debut, and this goes for both compositions and sound. The album combines a somewhat thrashy and absolutely old school-inspired form of Tampa-Death Metal with a hammer-production, and if I didn’t know this album was recently recorded, I would guess it was a Scott Burns or Tom Morris / Jim Morris-production. Supremacy and superiority from fifteen to twenty years ago, let’s mention Atheist, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Six Feet Under, Dead Orchestra, Cannibal Corpse, among others, that’s what Resurrection stand for. Additional information: the mix has been done at the Audiohammer Studio with Mark Lewis (Bury Your Dead, Chimaira, The Black Dahlia Murder, Devildriver etc), and the members are or were also involved with bands as Divine Empire, Malevolent Creation, Council Of The Fallen, or Diabolic, to name but a few. 81/100 Ivan Tibos. |
