Band: Satyricon My Skin Is Cold isn’t a new recording, or better, it isn’t completely new / new completely. The 7”EP / MCD opens with the title track, which was recorded and mixed by Lars Klokkerhaug (Obliteration, Darkthrone, Enslaved etc) and is a mid-tempo track that mainly goes on in the vein of the last releases, meaning: grimly freezing Post-Black Metal with an obscure atmosphere. The mini-album also contains the two bonus tracks from the vinyl-version of Volcano in a re-mastered version. Live Through Me is one of the slowest Satyricon-tracks ever, even though it speeds up a few times, while the melodic track Existential Fear-Questions contains several Traditional Doom-oriented riffs. The two last tracks are live-recordings, done in Oslo, November 2006, at Gjallarhorn, namely Repined Bastard Nation and Mother North (b-side of the vinyl-version). For this gig, Satyr Wongraven and Frost did have assistance of ex-Lunaris and Spiral Architect guitar player Steinar ‘Azarak’ Gundersen, and (Brass-) orchestras Kringkastingsorkesteret and Oslo Filharmoniske Orkester. --/100 Ivan Tibos. |
