“Cosmic Universal Fashion” is the title track, the opener and the first single from the new album of Sammy Hagar with the same name “Cosmic Universal Fashion”. The tune is a boogie rhythmic song with Hager's rich vocals carrying the song. At first I thought the guitar will play a leading role but after a little opening tease we descend into a mixing bowl of guitar and keyboard loops overlaid the repetitive machine generated drum loops. Maybe this single is the perfect rock or pop chart song but it never shows the real talent of the exceptional vocals of Sammy Hagar. Besides the miscounting on the vocals the song also contains worthless lyrics. This song could be representative to the new album and that’s no good sign. This song is an online collaboration with Iraqi musician and songwriter Steven Lost and it’s an industrial pop remake of the Van Halen single “Right Now”. It’s definitely a different sounding song for a guy known for hard driving rock and it’s sounds more dance and pop like.
