Release date : December 2008
Review : CD
“One More Piece” is the second studio album of the French metal band Sikh.
Sikh was formed in 2001 in Nice, France and released their debut album “Sikh” in 2005.
The new album “One More Piece” already came out a year ago in France, but now the rest of Europe follows.
The last couple of years, there is a boom of French bands, with as best examples for instance Gojira, Scarve, Watcha, Aqme, Pleymo, Dagoba and Empyr. And I guess Sikh is going to be the next name to add to that list of French metal bands.
What does Sikh have to offer? Energetic NU metal with slapping bass rhythms and groovy riffs. This results in a smoking powerful sound that makes you want to jump the whole time.
The score at the bottom of this review could have been higher, but then I expect Sikh to leave a weak ballad like “Ballad Of The Harmless” and a stupid track like “Box My Balls” out of their repertoire.
“One More Piece” contains 11 songs and has a playing time of approximately 40 minutes.
Highlights are the opening track "The Quake", “5 Seasons”, "Hollywood", “Hammering The Sun”, “Psychotro” and “Slaves Of The 70s (Wisky)”.
Is NU metal dead? No, absolutely not!
75/100
