Review : CD

“Cannibal Killers Live” is the first live album of the industrial metal band Static-X.
The band was formed in 1994 and released five studio albums so far, with Wisconsin Death Trip” (1999) being their most successful one.
The live album was recorded in Spokane, Washington (USA) on June 2nd 2007 and the recording is a complete concert, containing all the hits of their previous studio albums. One could even state it’s a best of set of these pioneers of evil disco as Static-X call themselves.
Even though a lot of samples and programming and all the keyboards are on tape while the musicians play their instruments, the foursome around band leader Wayne Static don’t produce a polished sound on this honest and raw live recording.
The pounding rhythms and heavy riffs, together with the fast-paced, aggressive vocals of Wayne Static, are very exciting and you clearly hear the crowd go wild on the cybernetic evil disco.
“Cannibal Killers Live” contains 17 songs and has a playing time of 60 minutes.
Highlights are the opening track "Cannibal", “Dirthouse”, "I’m With Stupid", “Bled For Days”, "Cold", “Black And White”, “Destroyer”, “The Trance Is The Motion”, “Push It” and “Get To The Gone”.
There is also a DVD available of this concert and this DVD also includes all the videos Static-X made in their career.
Static-X will probably release their sixth studio album in February/ March 2009.
