Band: Methedras Title: The Worst Within Label: self-released Distribution: Hardebaran Release date: March 2008 Review: MCD The Italian band Methedras was formed more than ten years ago and during the past years, the band get lots of attention in both their home country as the rest of Europe . In the early years, Methedras stood for Metallica / Slayer / Testament / Megadeth -inspired Thrash Metal, yet throughout the years, they created sort of an own sound, combining those old styled Thrash elements with a modern approach and Death Metal influences, especially in rhythm section and some riffs, yet also vocally. The Worst Within is evolving even further. More than before, the tracks on this recording are influenced by technical Death Metal, yet without getting rid of the original Bay Area-alike elements. Slayer , Bolt Thrower , Kreator , Death Angel , Death and Testament , Methedras does use elements from all of these bands to mix it into an own groovy crossover of heavy and intense Metal. The whole might not be that renewing, yet it certainly is interesting for fans of higher mentioned bands. 75/100 Ivan Tibos. |
