CD REVIEW Black Pyramid

Band : Black Pyramid
Album Title : Black Pyramid
Label : Electric Earth
Distributor :
Release Date : October 2008
Review : 7”

The first substantial work of Black Pyramid with new vinyl label Electric Earth in Belgium supporting it. Only two songs of a megalithic character, influenced by Black Sabbath, Sleep, Yob, Earthride, The Obsessed,… As soon as I put my white coloured single on my turntable the opening track told me that I was in for a psych doom like experience. “Visions of Gehenna” seeped out of my shit speakers and grabbed my attention, instantly submerging me into a valium drenched vibe throughout. This is 24-carat doom that is sure to groove at any stoner party with a predominantly “Dragonauta”-level. “Caravan” is also very good, although it is much more subdued than its predecessor. There's some great playing by all members, but especially some inspiring guitar work and graspy vocals by Andy Bereksy (ex-Palace In Thunderland –read review 23/03/2006) A true necessity for any fan of the genre, this is one you should not miss.

This is a fine release by Electric Earth, on white vinyl insert in tasteful black artwork. Strictly limited to 500 copies, so get yours while they're there... Hope a full-length album is on the way soon.
