Trip Fontaine is a weird five men combo from Germany that hits us with very alternative punk not using their native language. It's a mix of all kinds of things from metal to punk, over rock to pop. The band plays a sort of acoustic punk with a touch of rock and roll. Their name they gathered from a character in the movie “ The Virgin Suicides ”. Y ou have to listen more than once to this album because it's very eclectic, just like The Evil Superstars in their early days or At The Drive Inn . It's just like they made indie rock with a hardcore-minded touch. Sometimes it's even quite danceable. Trip Fontaine might perhaps be too heavy for the indie crowd and too soft , when you listen to “ Failures Of Repute ”, for the hardcore fans. It's obvious that this German band tries to find a new sound in rock music. It's not that easy to label these guys and it's not because they've invented a new style. There is really a lot you can find in this record and that makes it a bit chaotic. There is however a lot of future potential here, especially the last song on the album “ Das Ende vom Zelt ” is actually really good.
