Band: Satanochio Title: Vagrant Matter Heritage Label: own production Distribution: Release date: Review: MCD The Romanian trio Satanochio plays so-called ‘Evil Metal' and I guess that might be the most correct description. Their newest effort, a mini this time, goes on in the vein of for example their full length I Am Satanochio , which means that this sonic attack combines chaos with elements from Death and Black Metal, Noise and so on. Vagrant Matter Heritage opens with Everything Dies , a song that starts with a (short) horrific intro yet soon explodes into a cocktail of melody, groove and extremity. This rough and filthy Black'n'Roll'n'Doom-track exhales a morbid and somewhat cynical spirit of the early days, and that goes perfectly well with the dingy sound, of course. The National John Doe , the second track, is as filthy as the first one and is also based on a somewhat slower rhythm with that fabulous underground undertone. It sounds unique, and even though there is a strong influence from the Avant-garde school, it can't really be compared to any other band. Inward The Fairy , the third and last song, is a short yet hyper-kinetic grind-crusher and indeed it is a perfect ending to this (too short) mini-album. Unusual yet highly satisfying! And oh yes, the artwork (drawings) are just sublime frightening yet sublime! 85/100 Ivan Tibos. |
