Band: Sathanas Title: Crowned Infernal Label: Pulverised Records Distribution: Sure Shot Worx Release date: 28/04/2008 Review: CD Sathanas is one of the oldest bands from the US in the extreme scene (formed in 1988), consisting of (ex-) members from, for example, Acheron and Bathym . Crowned Infernal , which lasts for about forty one minutes, was recorded with Tore Stjerna at his Necromorbus Studio (think: Watain , In Battle , Damnation Army , Repugnant , Zarathustra etc.) and in fact it doesn't bring anything renewing at all. The album still brings an old school-oriented mixture of Death, Thrash and Black Metal, yet in its rawest form! Not one single song brings something new, but the whole has never been as convincing, as powerful and as magisterial before! Everything fits this time (which wasn't always the case in the past, I'm afraid): the mixture of the three extreme Metal styles, the tempo (-changes), the sound / production, the atmosphere and the performance and every single song is a hellish pleasure! I dare to say that Crowned Infernal is Sathanas ' strongest album to date! Highly recommendable!!! 90/100 Ivan Tibos. |
