Review: CD

The French band Destinity was formed more than ten years ago and did in mean time hit the stage with bands as Immolation, Cradle Of Filth, Enthroned, Severe Torture, Dew-Scented and Decapitated - which certainly aren’t the ‘smallest’ names in the extreme Metal scene. The band did, that’s for sure, evolve a lot throughout the years and during their long period with Adipocere Records (the former three recordings were released through this underestimated yet more than acceptable French label) - in a positive way! The combination of modern-sounding Death Metal with melody and technicity may not be that refreshing, yet in this band’s case it comes with power and strength. All right, the sound has clearly been influenced by Jacob Hansen (Hatesphere, Aborted, Mercenary, Neaera, Yyrkoon and many, many, many others), yet it might be one of his most organic productions up till now (in spite of the sometimes somewhat mechanic guitar sound - what a contradiction in terminis). The Inside isn’t as brutal and furious as before anymore, yet this extremity has made place for a more technical-compositional evolvement, which isn’t that bas in this band’s case. I guess it might be that typical French professional vision on extreme Metal, I guess. Don’t get me wrong: The Inside isn’t the world’s most renewing album, nor is it the best Death Metal release from France this year, but this album certainly is Destinity’s most variated and mature album to date. There’s so many sh*t nowadays, so I guess, no, I’m sure that every fan of melodic and 21 st-century-oriented Death Metal will certainly ejaculate when listening to Destinity’s fourth studio recording (which has, by the way, duration of forty seven minutes).
