Band : Edenbridge Album Title : My Earth Dream Label : Napalm Records Distributor : SPV Records Release Date :28/04/2008 Release : CD Edenbridge is a symphonic and neo-classical metal band from Austria. With their sixth album they tried something different with the cooperation of a 65 piece Czech film orchestra. This is not the strength of this new album but the voice of Sabine Edelsbacher is remarkable strong. This new album is without a doubt a great follow-up to their latest album “The Great Design”. The great difference besides the orchestra is the darkness of the guitar riffs. And the vocals by miss Edelsbacherare immaculate as ever and it's a perfect match for the orchestra's magnificent symphonic sound escapes. The music has all the grandiose trappings and epic melodies one would expect. But the first four songs are a little bit dull without any passion. It's from track five “Adamantine” that you can feel a driven passion in their music. “Whale Rider” is a slow, piano driven ballad with an excellent performance of Edelsbacher. “ My Earth Dream ” is not a bad record but strong musicianship aside, I can’t sincerely call it very good either. 70/100 Guido Claes. |
