Band: Prostitute Disfigurement Title: Descendants Of Depravity Label: Neurotic Records Distribution: Release date: 17/03/2008 Review: CD The Dutch horde Prostitute Disfigurement started at the end of 2000 as Disfigure, yet when the band was signed to Dismemberment Records, shortly after their second live performance, the moniker changed into the current one. In mean time, the band did record three full length studio albums (among which one on Neurotic Records, the former one, called Left In Grisly Fashion) and did hit the stage with bands as Cannibal Corpse and Deicide. Last year, Prostitute Disfigurement entered the Stage One Studio with Andy Classen, which resulted in Descendants Of Depravity, having a total running time of thirty nine minutes. Dscendants … does not bring something new, with the exception that the band has evolved a lot professionally. The whole consists of the usual ingredients: rage, fury, brutality, speed and terror. The fast songs combine elements from Death Metal with Grindcore, interspersed with shivering guitar solo’s, unstoppable machine gun drum patterns (by Michiel van der Plicht, by the way, who is also known from Toxocara and Katafalk), a low-tuned guitar sound and great grunts (and some grinding screams).Originality: 0/10, craftsmanship: 9/10. Conclusion: a must for the real Death Metal fan, no reason to exist for those looking for something new / renewing. I think, however, that Descendants Of Depravity might be PD’s most mature album to date. 80/100 Ivan Tibos. |
