Band : Tgl Album Title : Sweeter As Fiction Label : Oort Records Europe Distributor : Goodlife Distribution Release Date : 28/11/2008 Release : CD Tgl presents their third album and they bring really emotive poppy pop punk songs just like Boys Like Girls. Tgl stands for The Good Life and that reflects on their songs. The album contains ten dynamic rock songs evoking the fullness of life. And soaring melodies with lyrics about sadness, ripped on chunks of pop crunch still are the ingredients Tgl offers. It doesn't re-invent the emotional punk sound, it doesn't break new ground and it doesn't raise the bar in terms of bands before them but it's just a good old fashioned solid album. The song “Heels Over Flats” is a good example of how this album, both lyrically and musically, sounds like. They know how to write a chorus that becomes a sing a long. “Beauty School Dropout” is the best song on this new album, it's catchy and will have you singing along in no time. The same with other songs like “Valleys” or the title track “Sweeter As Fiction”. There is definitely a new vibe of bands that will steal the hearts of teenagers with their emotional songs about love and Tgl is one of them. 80/100 Guido Claes. |
