Band : Glowsun Album Title : The Sundering Label : Buzzville Records Distributor : Suburban Records Release Date : 03/11/2008 Release : CD Glowsun, three guys from Lille in the North of France, definitely want to be part of that bigger contemporary stoner, doom and psychedelic scene. Unfortunately it proves to be hard to find an untouched chord in the stoner genre. Glowsun tries too much to sounds like Kyuss in combination of Monster Magnet and Hawkwind. This band shows a lack of explosion, good riffs and good songs. But on the other hand this debut album has enough powerful groove and heavy sound to be interesting for the future. It’s true that you can’t believe this really is a French band. The solos of the guitars are Jimi Hendrix like but that’s good. “Green Sun, Sick World" is a more post rock and roll song and does not fit in this album “The Sundering". This rock trio are building on a good way but have to stop imitate other stoner bands. With their power rock they can create their own sound and combine stoner, hard rock and psychedelic to become the French version of bands like Cream. 65/100 Guido Claes. |
