Band : Mogul Album Title : Build Me A Hunchback Label : Buzzville Records Distributor : Suburban Records Release Date : 12/11/2008 Release : CD Another band from Belgium tries to put their foot in stoner land. And from the city of Waregem they produce a sound that will please al Unida, Hermano, Monster Magnet and Kyuss fans. Mogul is a real new sensational stoner rock band with some good old fashioned stoner rock with the typical guitar sound and the cosmic approach to songs and melodies. Maybe the vocals can be a bit stronger, harder and more daring and expressive, but this is only a small footnote on a great record. There’s a lack of originality but loads of quality recycling of stoner rock we already know and love. The voice of Sam Dufoor has relents of John Garcia and the titles composed by Mogul are not without pointing out Hermano but they have a solid base to work with. One of the best songs on this album is “Side Kick". They won three time in a row the Studio Brussels demo poll and this is not really a surprise. Belgium is becoming a great base for stoner bands. After Hypnos 69, Cowboys & Aliens and even Hulk this band delivers some firework. The quintet Mogul can really be proud of their debut album with twelve songs of heavy and intense stoner. 78/100 Guido Claes. |
