Band : The Cotton Soeterboek Band Album Title : Twisted Label : Own Release Distributor : Own Release Release Date : 21/11/2008 Release : CD The Cotton Soeterboek Band mixes Southern rock with seventies bluesy British metal or a mix of Lynyrd Skynyrd with Deep Purple. The vocals are very powerful and brought by Robert Soeterboek, who toured with Arjen Lucassen at his latest Star One tour. The first song on this album “Set Me Free” could have just as easily been a Deep Purple song and is a great way to open this album. The next songs have all hard rock groovy rhythms and nice guitar solo’s. The album is definitely built upon the seventies atmosphere when music was born through deep emotions standing away from the music trends and money making philosophies. “Colorado” is probably the best track on this album with a very catchy sound. But all songs are strong, catchy and very refreshing to hear in this age of doom and gloom hard rock and metal. This album is good time rock ‘n’ roll. “Leave Me Blue” is a straight Lynyrd Skynyrd song and "Still Of The Night" has a genuinely addictive chorus followed by the beautiful piano solo and topped by the harsh deep vocals making the choice of the best track of the album a perfunctory procedure. "Twisted" is nice album to listen to full with hard rock guitar tunes, catchy melodies and heartbreaking lyrics and vocals. 78/100 Guido Claes. |
