Band : Les Paul Album Title : The Les Paul Story Label : Eagle Records Distributor : PIAS Release Date : 01/12/2008 Release : DVD Lester William Polsfuss, better known as Les Paul, is an American jazz guitarist and inventor. He is a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which made the sound of rock and roll possible. His many recording innovations include overdubbing, delay effects such as sound on sound and tape delay, phasing effects and multi track recording. Les Paul holds a unique place in the history of music. As a young man he played guitar for Bing Crosby and other jazz greats. Throughout the forties and fifties he had a string of hits as a duo with his wife Mary Ford. At the same time he was designing what would become one of the greatest of all rock icons the Gibson Les Paul guitar. This DVD tells the story of this extraordinary man, who at the age of 93 is still performing weekly at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City. More than anyone else, he's truly worthy to be called the one and only architect of rock 'n' roll. This DVD includes over 90 minutes of bonus material including the Les Paul and his trio live at the Iridium Jazz Club, with special guest Steve Miller, vintage duets with Les Paul performing together with Keith Richards, Kay Starr, Merle Haggard and Chet Atkins, classic television appearances from Les Paul & Mary Ford at home, omnibus with Alistair Cooke and performances from elsewhere and extended conversations with Les Paul. 78/100 Guido Claes. |
