CD REVIEW Dead Man

Band : Dead Man
Album Title : Euphoria
Label : Crusher Records
Distributor : Clearspot
Release Date : November 2008
Review : CD
The second outcome from Dead Man is better than their first (Dead Man). They still play excactly the same kind of music, so you can hear influences of bands such as The Byrds, Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Quicksilver Messenger Service,… that remind me slightly of other though much heavier Swedish retro-acts such as Burning Saviours, Witchcraft, Graveyard, Blowback,… Soulful mid-ranged voices of all four muiscians Kristoffer Sjödahl - guitar, vocals, Johan Rydholm - acoustic guitar, vocals Joakim Dimberg - bass, vocal and Marcus Allard – drums, vocals - is, as always, superb backed up with some good electric, slide and acoustic guitar work as well as the very present bass, percussion and organs. It takes a few listens for it to sink in, but with the exception of a couple songs “From a window” and “Light vast corridors”  this CD is a pleasure to listen to. The band is certainly at its best here the more dynamic and jamming they get, standouts being “The Wheel” and “Rest in peace”.
Where the debut suffered from a thin production, Euphoria sounds much better on all levels. All in all I am impressed by the material offered here. Dead Man has improved and matured since the debut album and I am positive most sixities/seventies fans will find a lot to appreciate here.
