Band : Griffin Album Title : Linked In Eternity Label : Own Release Distributor : Own Release Release Date : 10/10/2008 Release : CD This is a remarkable hard rock and metal promo CD by a new Scandinavian band called Griffin. This Swedish band produced five metal songs on their second promo CD and brought this out as a self-financed release. The band has two members of the legendary band Torch. But Tomi Peltonen and Kristian Huotari are now playing rather other metal than their retro stuff. The production is more than excellent. All instruments are equal in the mix and the sound is crystal clear and really pictures out the good work done in the performing. Their music has melodic guitars of the eighties American mainstream rock but combined with a metal approach in the tempo changes. The vocals of Jorgen Soderberg do vary from the harmonies of melodic rock to the passion of Dio. The solo parts are very good and are played with a great chemistry. The average duration of each of these five songs is around five minutes. The band has given its best as regards riffs consistency and multi-dimensional songwriting. They sounds very heavy but they are, at the same time, very melodic. It’s waiting for their first full length album in the near future. 72/100 Guido Claes. |
