Band: Sideblast Title: Flight Of A Moth Label: Cyclone Empire Distribution: Sure Shot Worx Release date: 14/03/2008 Review: CD Formed in 2004, this somewhat nervous French outfit has created an own expression of what extreme Metal must sound like. The quartet succeeded to create a debut album that is both enthralling and pretty unique at the same time. The rhythmic and massive combination of Death Metal, Thrash and Black Metal, Industrial, Grindcore, Doom, Drone and Cyber has been worked out perfectly, yet sometimes it might seem a little ‘too much', somewhat over the top. However, to combine an extreme intensity with atmosphere and melody isn't that easy at all, yet this formation does perform it magisterially. The tempo varies whole the time, including so many tempo-changes and breaks, while the keyboards, sometimes atmospheric, sometimes pondering, play both a head role as an atmospheric back ground role. The skills of the members finally, well, it's clear that these are just superb. The whole might seem a receipt with ingredients as Strapping Young Lad, Nasum, Deicide, Zyklon, Gojira, Behemoth, Soilwork, Dagoba, Mastodon, early Susperia, Loudblast, Hatesphere and Hate Eternal, then perfectly mixed into a cocktail of craftsmanship and intelligence. This is a raging fury that dominates heaviness, this is brutal Art for an open-minded yet brave audience. 88/100 Ivan Tibos. |
