Band: Total Hate Title: Depopulating Planet Earth Label: Agonia Records Distribution: Release date: March 2008 Review: CD I'm always in for the depopulation of our planet, so with such a title, this band might be a winner for sure! Anyway, the Polish label Agonia Records has always been standard for qualitative Death and, especially, Black Metal, not that mainstream shit, yet the 'pure' stuff. One of my favourite bands on the label is the German formation Total Hate . This band recorded Depopulating Planet Earth, which lasts for about forty four minutes, about half a year ago. Depopulating…stands for firm and powerful up-tempo Black Metal with a grim sound, somewhat underground-oriented and old schoolish. The blaspheme songs may not be that renewing, yet the mostly fast (sometimes blasting) hymns are so oppressing, overpowering and overwhelming that the lack of originality is forgotten (forgiven) soon. And everything fits: the angry screams, the varying riffs, the tempo-changes, the filthy production, the cold rhythm section, it's just an orgiastic approach of a totally hateful philosophy. Highly recommended to fans of Krieg, Armagedda, Nargaroth, Lugubre and Pest! 89/100 Ivan Tibos. |
