Band : Battleroar Album Title : Pagano Label : Cruz Del Sur Distributor : Sonic Rendezvous Release Date :02/05/2008 Review : CD There's probably a legion of people out there who would in fact enjoy the epic bombastic metal style of Rhapsody, Blind Guardian or other likeminded bands, but still would prefer a bit heavier, less neo-classic approach to the style. The good news is that the five Greece warmongers of Battleroar can fill that request on Pagano, their third full length release. Meshing the crash-and-burn style of Iced Earth with the stoic glory of bands like Manilla Road,Heavy Glory , Jag Panzer, Omen, Liege Lord and Attacker, Battleroar’s full-on metal delivery will undoubtedly encourage a horde of metal heads. Evoking a no-nonsense approach and blistering through tracks like the stomping “ Dragonhelm”, the chugging doom-o- rama of big, galloping, arena rock tracks such as “Oceans of pain” and “The wrathforce” and the effectively heavy closer “Death before disgrace”.Chunky guitar riffs, sparkling lead solos and songs written like fist-raising anthems fill this 9-track CD. From the sound-side, they also convince with a powerful and clean production, which leaves nothing to be desired. Battleroar slay through your ears without any questions asked. If Battleroartry to eliminate the too obvious influences and get some more originality into their sound, then the next album might be the one to promote Battleroar into Europe’s top flight of Power Metal. 88/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
