Band : Hangar Album Title : The Reason Of Your Conviction Label : Wacken Records - Steamhammer Distributor : SPV Records - CNR Release Date : 23/05/2008 Release : CD Brazilian power progressive metal is the stuff these five guys are bringing. But unfortunately is this power more volume than content. Vocalist Nando Fernandes developes intelligently his singing lines but the most of the time technically good guitar work is not convincing together with the vocals. Each song has a complex structure with most of the time a uptempo feeling like in “Hastiness” but sometimes the metal speed makes some place for a ballad like “Call Me In The Name Of Death”. Besides the breath taking volume Hangar even used piano passages in their songs. But overall it's the speed in the metal that counts and stylistic this band moves between Helloween and Master Plan. But the production of their work sucks big time. The use of key boards and bass is reduced to a minimum. The strong and balanced sound needed for a band as Hangar is lost. Hangar can play well and has potential but they have to cut the crap as in their first song “Just The Beginning” when a Brazilian lady in very poor English opens this track with a spooky and futuristisc voice guided by cello. It's the best way to misguide the listeners and turn of this CD. 70/100 Guido Claes. |
