Band : One Night Only Album Title :Started A Fire Label : Vertigo - Mercury Records Distribution : Universal Release date : May 2008 Review : CD One Night Only are a UK indie pop rock band, from Helmsley, North Yorkshire, that were formed in summer 2003 when most of the five band members were studying at the same secondary school. At that time, the youngsters, bass player Daniel Parkin, drummer Sam Ford and guitar player Mark Hayton, were not older than 15 and starting to learn how to play their instruments. When George Craig joined the band as the singer, he insisted on also playing guitar and even introduced a keyboard player, Jack Sails. One Night Only is often associated with bands like for instance Air Traffic, The Enemy, Scouting For Girls, The Pigeon Detectives, The Wombats, The Cribs, Boy Kill Boy and Keane, but One Night Only is less keyboard orientated and more guitar orientated with two guitar players in the band. Interesting to know is that “Started A Fire” was produced and mixed by Steve Lillywhite, famous for his productions of several U2 albums. The album contains 10 tracks (40 minutes playing time), including the following highlights: the opening track and first single, the simply irresistible pop anthem “Just For Tonight” , “It’s About Time”, “You And Me”, “He’s There”, “Start Over”, “It’s Alright” and “Hide”. One Night Only will probably perform live on stage in a club or on a summer festival later this year throughout Europe. 80/100 Erik. |
