Band : Babylon Mystery Orchestra Album Title : Axis Of Evil Label : Independent Distributor : Independent Release Date : 11/04/2008 Release : CD Babylon Mystery Orchestra is not a multi-headed orchestra but the vehicle of the American Sidney Allen Johnson . This fourth album “ Axis Of Evil ” is a very provocative and politically incorrect. It's an elocutionary pamphlet more than a musical album. Every song is narrated by Sidney Allen Johnson with a low, dark voice with some quotations of the Bible and the Koran, of the American president, muslim terrorists or even Churchill. It's his voice and musical approach that brings him near the sound of Tiamat at the times of “ Clouds ” and “ Wild Honey ”. But the end product is so much minor. The structure of songs is quite predictable. But it's a special album and also concept based, centred around how the violence expressed in Islam is reflective of its founders own intentions. Musically this album tries to traverse gothic and doom metal territory with the occasional straightforward hard rock and classic metal influence. And it's remarkable that one man handles all aspects of the recording, including lead vocals, rhythm and lead guitar, bass and keyboards. It's definitely a strange guy with a strange sound. 70/100 Guido Claes. |
