Band : Dendura Album Title : New Life Label : Killzone Records Distributor : Private Release Date : 17/04/2008 Release : CD Dendura is a bit of heavy metal with Middle East influences and a female vocalist. Their sound is really heavy with groove metal riffs. But it's rather simple with some melodic interludes. Vocalist Azizi Amy Poggi is obviously talented but she's too much busy singing, growling, whispering and yelling that you can barely hear what she's telling. Therefore this album sucks and incompetent. Dendura push an Egyptian storyline to their music but can't cover their touch of amateurism in such things as subtle rhythm movements, occasional nods to the add-more school of thought. Bass and guitar runs during their songs just enough to tell me that Dendura have some work to do before reaching higher levels. The best song on this album is “ Mummified ” which closes “ New Life ” with catchy movements and simple, strong bass lines. They can produce a strong sound and lots of good riffs and ideas, but just need to come together a bit tighter to really take it to the next level. For this female orientated metal you don't have to rush to the stores to buy their “ New Life ”. 55/100 Guido Claes. |
