Review: live-MCD

As the title explains, this Brutal Truth-release is a live registration with an additional track. The mini was originally released in 2000 through Solardisk, but this hard-to-find piece of ultra-brutality is now available again. The live recording was done in New Zealand for a radio show to promote their Sounds Of The Animal Kingdom World Tour. Inspired by smoke, grind and sleep, the quartet plays ten tracks, which last for about seventeen minutes, with material from Sounds Of …, yet also older songs. Of course, the sound isn’t superb, yet these Grind-eruptions are sort of cult, I guess. And Brutal Truth also show their less fast side with Jimenez Cricket, one of their most Death Metal-oriented assaults. The ‘+ 1’-track is called (untitled) and was originally recorded in New Hampshire in February 1994. This strange track is a mixture of Industrial (samples and sounds), ‘Atmospherics’ (the soft, Mortiis era first half of the nineties-alike keyboards), and Tribal (energetic percussions), and it is pretty long for a Brutal Truth-track: four minutes. Different but surprisingly interesting!
