Band : Ufomammut IDOLUM IS THE TITLE OF THE NEW ALBUM OF UFOMAMMUT. Urlo, Poia and Vita again succeeded perfectly in setting a claustrophobic, sick, twisted and utterly dark atmosphere. Their particular psych mixture of industrial sounds with apocalyptic doom that has me gasping for air... still make Ufomammut one of the most unique bands out there. To start to understand how they sound imagine an ungodless marriage between bands as diverse as Pink Floyd, Sleep, Ministry, Winter, Laibach, Sunno, Godflesh and Neurosis. Ultra bone crushingly heavy songs like “Stardog” and “Destroyer” showcase the first side of the band - really dense, tribal and sa(i)mple-heavy music which completely overwhelms the listener. On the other hand, songs as “Ammonia” with Floydian use of female sirenes by Rose Kemp and “Hellectric” favors a more minimalistic and hypnotic approach, pulverizing the listener with repetitive yet very emotional structures. The production is incredible, the harmonics sound very clean and the sound is loud and clear. The monumental 27 minute opus bearing the name “Void...Elephantom” is their mixed interpretation of “Set the controls of the heart of the sun” and “Demon box” What they do here is very unusual and unorthodox, but that’s what makes music worth listening to. There are no boundaries and this release proves it. All of this adds up to Ufomammut’s most memorable and best album. Get it NOW!
