The time you have to search for good French rock or metal bands is past. The Old Dead Tree already brought some pure gothic rock albums for several years and now a new French band Demians will hit the world with wonderful melodic and progressive rock music. Mastermind of this new band is Nicolas Chapel who first started as a solo artist but ended up in a real band. Demians is a progressive rock band that could be the French equivalent of British Porcupine Tree . The eight tracks on there debut album “ Building An Empire ” are good balanced and the texture and dynamic within the music is breathtaking. There will also be a   lavish digital pack available that contains a nine-minute limited edition bonus track “ Earth ”. Through whole this excellent album you can hear many influence from great bands. Opening track “ The Perfect Symmetry ” is a nine minute long prove that Porcupine Tree is not that far away. “ Sapphire ” is a mix of Incubus , Paradise Lost and especially Creed when you hear those pure vocals by Nicolas Chapel . And in “ Temple ” you can hear Anathema closing your eyes. The last track on this album “ Sand ” is a wonderful progressive song. More than sixteen minutes you can enjoy the talents of this new French band. No wonder that Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree is a huge fan of those guys.
