Band : Warrel Dane Album Title : Praises To The War Machine Label : Century Media Records Distributor : EMI Release Date : 25/04/2008 Release : CD Warrel Dane is definitely one of metal's most revolutionary vocalists and he has shattered the boundaries with legendary bands like Sanctuary and especially Nevermore . “ Praises To The War Machine ” is Warrel Dane 's solo effort. With this inaugural solo project he unleashes a barrage of introspective and pers onal lyrics that are heartfelt and extremely powerful. All of this emotional backed with his soaring angelic and dynamic vocals provides all of the necessary elements for a savagely captivating, melodic assault that easily hooks you in. For this solo effort he surrounded himself with excellent musicians such as Peter Wichers , ex- Soilwork , on guitar and bass, Dirk Verbeuren from Soilwork on drums and Matt Wicklund , ex- Himsa , on guitar. For the song “ Messenger ” he can count on the special appearance of his Nevermore mate and guitar player Jeff Loomis . It's very clear that this solo project has more focus on writing and singing memorable songs instead of constructing songs to show off everyone's skills. And it's also obvious that this work contains more than metal only. Warrel Dane left some space for trash metal and even some gothic parts. This new album contains twelve songs with a great balance. And Warrel Dane is on the right track when he brings a cover of Sisters Of Mercy 's “ Lucretia My Reflection ”. Beauty and elegance are at the right place. 80/100 Guido Claes. |
