Band : Volbeat Album Title : Live : Sold Out Label : Mascot Records Distributor : PIAS Release Date : 03/03/2008 Release : DVD For the Danish metal band Volbeat 2007 was a tremendous year. After they released “ Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil ” they played one sold out gig after an other. And that result you can see on this double DVD with material from many European shows, video clips and a documentary. It's a huge project with lot of extra's . At first sight it seems to be strange to have not a registration of one concert but to have a mix of live songs on the first DVD from different gigs and festivals like “ Rebel Monster ” at the Summer Breeze Festival or “ Mr & Mrs Ness ” from Wacken Open Air . Volbeat shows us 19 live songs with a lot of editing. Besides festivals you can see them live indoor at Hamburg or Copenhagen . So you get a lot of surprises such as seeing vocalist Michael Poulsen introducing the song “ Sad Man's Tongue ” at Wacken and performing the song on other locations. The songs are perfectly mixed in each other. So you're getting a whole show with different images from different locations. It's a new and good experiment. Besides the live material on the first DVD there are also 5 video clips and a large picture gallery. On the second DVD this Danish equivalent of Metallica gives us a documentary of more than two hours. You get images of how the band members think about each other, witch artists they like the most, what their job was before Volbeat and how they cope with success. It's nice to find out what this band is all about and how famous they became in short notice. 80/100 Guido Claes. |
