Exilia is an Italian metal quartet from Milan. After their debut in 2006 it was very quiet around this band but now they are back with their album "My Own Army". Front woman Masha is still on board on this twelve well produced tracks on this album. Dave Chavarri of Ill Niño produced the album and his band mate Cristian Machado appears on the album as guest vocalist. Opening track "Phoenix" proves that Exilia lost nothing of their strength within the time being of the scene. The mix of heaviness, energy, melodies and the right dosage of aggression are the reasons why this band still exists. "Far From The Sky" is a sort of ballad with dominating piano tunes and beautiful strings. A nice track is the cover of Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight". And the following song and title track "My Own Army" is a very good example of how vocalist Masha can express her hate, her anger, her energy, her love and her passion. And it’s just this unique voice in combination with catchy melodies, sophisticated guitar riffs and an excellent drumming that makes this album worthwhile listening too.
