Band : The New Black Album Title : The New Black Label : AFM Records Distributor : Sure Shot Worx / Rock Inc. Release Date : 02/02/2009 Release : CD The New Black is a rather new German metal band. Although they played in several bands like Sinner, Runamok, Abandoned and MCF, it doesn’t ring a bell in metal world. In this new configuration they have released their debut album “The New Black”. Their music can best be described as being a mix of Pantera and the heavy tracks of Pearl Jam. But anyone can deny that these guys have spent many years listening to Metallica as well. The sound of the album is pretty good and both guitarists are producing their very own and solid sound. The riffs are fine, the tempo is high most of the time and there is plenty of melody in the tracks. The vocals are not that good because vocalist Fluid is limited when it comes the real highs and lows. But overall when you have nothing more to listen to this album can bring some joy. The tracks with some melody such as “Coming Home” and “50 Ways To Love Your Liver” brings the most variation. “Simplify” adds that nice southern rock touch and to end you can listen to the ballad “Wound” with a great solo. It’s a nice start for a new band but no more and no less. 70/100 Guido Claes. |
