Band: Sympathy Sympathy hail from Canada and was formed by Dharok (aka Derek James From) in 1991. Together with Jeff Lewis (Mortification, Abolishment Of Hate and Jim Austin (Into Eternity), Dharok recorded Anagocic Tyranny, which lasts for almost forty eight minutes. This album goes mainly on in the vein of the former albums, yet this album certainly is the most oppressing, overwhelming and powerful one to date. It isn’t easy to describe the ultra-extreme ugliness Sympathy create, because its brutality cannot be defined with human words. Every track is very technical, pounding and rhythmic, and the tempo varies from drilling-fast to hyper-grinding, but never it sounds exaggerated. The musical eruptions are mainly based on the North American scene, U.S. (think Morbid Angel, Immolation, Hate Eternal, Malevolent Creation, Vital Remains, Suffocation amongst others) and Canada (Drawn & Quartered, Decrepit, Beneath The Massacre, Kataklysm, Neuraxis, …). However, Sympathy inject its musick with elements from Grind, Blast, Thrash, Funeral Doom and Black Metal, which certainly makes the whole an interesting piece for all fans of extreme Metal. Anagocic Tyranny isn’t a renewing recording, but the album is highly recommended to fans of morbid Death Metal! 83/100 Ivan Tibos. |
